 Artist Reception:  September 6, 2014, 6-9 pm

Smith Andersen North is pleased to host Greenfield on GreenfieldWorking as a documentarian, Peggy Greenfield has traveled the world extensively throughout the years, assembling a collection of photographs of everyday events that spark her attention. The concept of her work is established as photographic aggregates: multiple images form one master idea. As a cell, each piece becomes a sliver of reality; however, together they create a unified story: a time, a place, a feeling, an emotion, an experience, an impression. The work becomes sculptural, as colors and patterns begin to shape a visceral dialogue.

Peggy Greenfield has been working full-time as a mixed-media artist since the late 1990s, working with a variety of media such as clay, painting on canvas, photography, and collage. She studied studio art at Wesleyan University (CT), and Dickinson College (PA), as well as at the Anderson Ranch Arts Center (CO), Santa Fe Clay Works (NM), and the Armory Art Center (FL). Within the last several years, she has shown in a variety of group and solo shows in Florida, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Washington, and New Zealand. Her work has been acquired by distinguished collections such as the Citibank Corporate Collections and the Davison Art Center of Wesleyan University, in Connecticut. Her work is also held in many private collections throughout the country, as well as in New Zealand, the UAE, and France.
